Schwartz Summary
Lanik walks in the hot desert till he collapses. He awakens to a young voice asking if he wants to die. At first, Lanik considers it but then realizes that the boy has survived in the desert. Evidently, there is a chance that he can, as well. He asks for water and the boy pauses and then moves sand with magic energy and brings up water in the same way. Lanik drinks and passes out. He awakens to a group of men just like the boy, dark skinned and fair-haired. They ask if Lanik wants to be the hideous monster that he is. He says no and they heal him, "from the inside," they say. He can regenerate but he is no longer a radical regenerative.
Lanik wants to be taken to their home but realizes that they do not have actual homes...
