Hanako Tachibana
Hanako is a young girl, born to Japanese parents but living in America at the outbreak of World War II. Her younger brother, Akira, and her parents, Kagako and Tadashi, were all imprisoned by the American government after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Hanako has endured terrible situations and hard work during her young life, including time in the prison camps, but she also worked hard in the restaurant her father owned before the war. They lost everything when the family was held in the camps, and moved to Japan shortly after. Hanako is worried when the family is moving to Japan because she does not know what to expect.
