Lord Worthington’s Estate
Lord Worthington’s Estate is the first setting present in the novel and where Fatma goes to try and solve the murders of the Brotherhood members. It is described as a place of extreme opulence, filled with countless, expensive relics that Lord Worthington believed would bring the Brotherhood closer to al-Jahiz’s wisdom. Alexander detests the estate, referring to it as his father’s inevitable tomb as he plans to demolish it before leaving Egypt for good. It is eventually revealed that Abigail was working on her plan to control the djinn while living in the estate and used her father’s connections to obtain al-Jahiz’s sword and masquerade as him. At the end of the novel, the estate is destroyed by Abigail when she summons her metal djinn in an attempt to raise awaken the Nine Lords.
