The Mango Shaped Space
When Mia undergoes acupuncture, she sees auras surrounding every living thing, including Mango. When Mango moves away, there is basically an outline of the cat that remains in Mia's vision for a brief time. When Mango dies, Mia temporarily loses all her colors, meaning she can't see any impressions left by Mango. She later recovers her colors. Though she can no longer see his impression, there is a Mango-shaped space left vacant by his absence. This represents the loss of Mango and the fact that Mia is finally dealing with the loss of her grandfather.

Mango is a cat that belongs to Mia. Mia believes that a small piece of her grandfather's soul lives on in Mango, meaning she still has her grandfather with her even though he died. She found Mango near her grandfather's grave on the day of his funeral...
