Summary

This scene completes the poem's narrative of seduction. He told her how much he loved her, and that he had never loved anyone else. He promised fidelity and gave her expensive gifts, including jewels and other tokens. He tells the story of how a nun once broke her vows because she was so madly in love with him, and then tells the young woman that he loves her just as much. He then starts to cry, which makes her pity him. She comments to the aged man that this passion was feigned to make her feel sorry for him, and it worked.

The young man promised that he wanted to be pure and love her chastely. The more he did so, however, the more he wanted to consummate their relationship. Eventually, she succumbed to his seduction, and he has now abandoned her. She ends...
