Chapters 13 through 15 Summary and Analysis
In chapter thirteen, Michelle outlined her goals for keeping the household running smoothly. She said that flexibility was vital and there was no such thing as an "ordinary" day at the Duggar home. She also said that perfectionism wasn't part of her plan and that a good day was one that had been busy, productive, and happy. One of the tips that she offered was that children "learn by doing" and that the younger children were encouraged to be part of the kitchen activities when meals were being planned. Michelle said the older girls came up with inventive ways to allow the younger ones to help, including providing a pair of kitchen shears used for cutting up beans or celery. All the children who were old enough for the responsibility had a "jurisdiction" over some task.
