Summary
Chapter 10: The Indian Gentleman told of Sara's observances out of the house. As a servant, she was often sent on errands all around town. She watched people and created stories or characteristics that she associated with them. One family she observed was nicknamed by Sara as the Large Family. The family had eight children and the mother and father. She liked seeing the kids welcome their father home from work. She assigned them the last name of Montmorency and gave each person in the family a different first name. One day near Christmas, one of the young boys gave Sara a sixpence because he felt like she was a poor girl. Sara realized then that she looked like the beggars to whom she once gave money.
