Summary
In Chapter 6.3, Jude’s malnourishment becomes so severe that he often passes out while he is alone in his apartment. A few times, Jude hallucinates that he sees Willem, which further motivates Jude to malnourish himself. Jude’s emotional state continues to deteriorate, and he begins to more deeply believe that his life has no meaning or value. Jude hopes that his malnourishment will kill him soon. He stops going to doctor appointments, and one day, Andy confronts Jude at his office. Andy threatens to call Harold if Jude does not start eating more, and if Jude continues to avoid receiving medical treatment. Jude continues to malnourish himself, so Andy stages an intervention with Harold and with all of Jude’s friends. They take Jude to the hospital, where he is force-fed.
