Summary

In Chapter 22, Torode caught up with Horowitz and Hawthorne at the airport. He told them he went to arrest Abbott that morning, but he was not at home.

At Abbott’s house, Hawthorne located a GoPro camera. When Hawthorne pressed the “on” button, it began to play the footage of Colin and Helen entering the Snuggery. Torode believed from the evidence that it was Abbott who was blackmailing Colin, but Hawthorne said that was wrong. That Charles was blackmailing Colin and using Helen as bait.

Hawthorne noted the only time Abbott became cocky during his interview was when Hawthorne mentioned his stocks in the electric company. Abbott was telling the truth, he actually did not have any stock so he had nothing to gain by blackmailing Colin. The 20,000 pounds was Abbott’s commission from what Charles earned from the deal.
