Summary

In Chapter 25, Jimmy raced to the island marked on his map. He hoped no one would “ID the make, model, or plates” of his car (278). After he finished this mission, he would report back to Chris who was meeting with Lamar. He arrived at Gwynn’s Island and snuck around the property.

Butch was watching Sally sleep. He reflected on her childhood and his fatherhood. He thought about Stevie, grief, and trust. Then he heard something in the hall. He drew his rifle and told Sally to climb out the window and “get to the Coast Guard station” (282).

Sally fled to the dock and jumped in the boat.

While Sally ran for help, a gunfight ensued between Jimmy and Butch. Both men got hit. Jimmy knew taking “the house solo was a bad idea” (287). Butch refused to back down.
