Summary
In Chapter 20, Lamar flew to Austin. He picked up the investigator, Garza, with whom he had been working. Garza told Lamar about his experience working with Harris. Shortly after he made SWAT, he started abusing his power. Everyone in the force complained about him. He eventually lost his job for his illicit activities, but was never charged. Harris stayed in the area temporarily thereafter. After he disappeared, Garza heard he was working “with a contractor” (218). Lamar thanks Garza for his help
Later, Lamar meets with David Taylor, hoping to ask him about his son (221). Mr. Taylor never heard David talk about Arman. When he died, he was “Home on leave” (223). Lamar was fairly certain the dead man on the beach, Arman, and David had all “crossed paths” (224).
