Summary
At turning 24 years old, Arun decided to get married. He had a job as a bookkeeper and partly due to his father’s pleas, he agreed he would marry. After three months of meeting prospective brides, he settled on Namrita, who although overweight, was not ugly like many of the others. She also had a large dowry to benefit the family. Arun also decided he wanted a better job, now that he was a man with a fiancée. His father, Prasad Kumar, told him he would help him get a teaching position. He took him to meet his boss, Mr Gupta, the head of the physical education department, at Mr Gupta’s son’s wedding reception.
