Summary
In Chapter 13, Peter prepares to leave the city but he is stopped because he sees Christoph. When Peter asks Christoph why he is there, Christoph says it is to kill him. Christoph displays the gun stuffed in his right pocket. At the same time, Peter notices a bald man sitting in a Volvo. Christoph accuses Peter of killing his father, even when Peter explains his father’s death was at the hands of Mundt. Christoph orders Peter to get up and start walking.
Deciding that Christoph is afraid, Peter begins to goad Christoph, asking him why he does not go ahead and shoot him. Christoph is suddenly leaning on the parapet beside him sobbing in pain and anger. Peter takes the gun and magazine away from him and throws it in the river.
