Summary

In Chapter 31, James leaves the ball immediately. When he tells Hinsley about his argument with Kitty, Hinsley echoes Kitty's concerns. James says young men are entitled to have a little fun, and that he will not interfere in Archie's life as his father interfered in James's. At Dorothy's the next morning, Kitty begins packing the clothes she feels she will not need before returning home. Cecily is distressed that they are going to leave soon.
