Summary
In Chapter 23, Kitty goes on every outing possible, keeping an eye on the looming deadline. Kitty is happy to be invited to the Stanfield home in the hope that Mr. Stanfield will propose. His mother immediately focuses all her attention on Kitty despite several others present. Kitty is surprised Mrs. Stanfield is concerned about Kitty's financial situation consider that the Stanfields are rich. When Kitty says she lives in a cottage with her four sisters, Mrs. Stanfield leaves her and pauses briefly by her son.
