Summary
In Chapter 8, Kitty is expecting Archie to propose within the week when she arrives at their home to find James. Kitty immediately knows he is suspicious toward her. Over the course of the conversation, Kitty worries about James's questions, including references to her Dorsetshire home. By the end of the visit, she is certain James does not approve. James is sure Kitty is only interested in Archie's money and that he will have to end that relationship.
In Chapter 9, Kitty is annoyed when Archie begins canceling their walks to spend time with James. Dorothy suggests returning Kitty's attention to Mr. Pears.
