Integrity in Storytelling
One of the most dominant themes in A Ladder to the Sky is the idea that although most writers want to maintain integrity in their work, at the times the lines become cloudy and sometimes the rights of others are overlooked. Integrity is the responsibility of each individual and not everyone feels compelled to act appropriately all the time. When it comes to story ideas, for example, many people debate about whether or not story ideas really belong to any one person. Many stories across the spectrum of human existence are fairly similar, so it is likely that two authors could see, hear or experience similar enough events on which to base a story (343).
