Summary

T.C. goes to visit his mother, Jackie, who taught at an elementary school for 15 years before being laid off. Jackie advises T.C. to visit his great-aunt Ruby and his grandmother Evelyn. In his bedroom, T.C. reflects on how much better the neighborhood was before the hurricane and how dilapidated and dangerous it has become. He visits Evelyn; Renard is now dead. Evelyn advises T.C. to stay out of prison, and she laments the cruel idea that his criminal record may prevent him from finding a job. She adds that she wishes T.C. could have met his father. The next day, T.C. meets with Tiger, who proposes starting an indoor cannabis farm in his cousin’s former bedroom and making a profit from that project for the next six months in order to raise personal capital.
