Summary
After sending her letter, the narrator now gets a small amount of money every Saturday. She treats Adriana to popsicles and saves enough for them to go visit her old seaside city with Vincenzo. She and Vincenzo swim together while Adriana waits on the beach. In the water, he kisses her on the lips before she swims away and returns to the beach. After lunch, she returns to her old house, which looks abandoned. She wonders what has happened to her adoptive parents before reminiscing about Lidia and her friend Lili Rose who danced together seductively one day when they were alone. Back at the beach, Adriana gets picked on by local boys and Vincenzo fights them. At the end of the day, Vincenzo leaves his sisters to go and see some friends.
