Summary
In “Chapter 7,” a boy named Miiro approached Nsuuta at church, which was very unusual and scandalous. He said he had been watching her and wanted to know her better to see if they could build a love upon which they could build a home. Alikisa was delighted for her, since Miiro’s father, Luutu was one of the wealthiest men in town, but Nsuuta worried about fulfilling the pact because Luutu was a Christian and opposed to polygamy. They decided they would find a way to both marry Miiro. Miiro and Nsuuta told their parents they wanted to engage in a European courtship, and their fathers obliged them.
