Summary
In Chapter 19, Chloe goes to examine Lacey’s body. The police tell her that Lacey was strangled, just like Aubrey and all of Dick Davis’s victims. She was killed at a separate location and was later wedged behind the dumpster in the alley behind Chloe’s office. Chloe notes that Lacey was wearing a rosary bracelet on her wrist at her therapy session—but the bracelet is no longer there.
In Chapter 20, Chloe goes out to her car feeling certain that Aubrey and Lacey were killed by the same person. Both bodies were left at the location the girls were last seen—the cemetery and Chloe’s office. Chloe wonders if the killer wanted the bodies to be found by her because he was a copycat killer obsessed with her father. She calls Aaron to talk.
