Chapter 13, Weddings, Worms and Sanyas Summary
A month later, Ishvar still had Om's marriage on his mind. Dina and Maneck continually argued that he was still too young to marry, but nothing would deter Ishvar. He explained that in the absence of a father, it was his duty to find Om someone to marry. Maneck changed the subject by announcing that he will be staying on for another three years, to Dina's delight.
Ishvar simply could not get thoughts of Om's marriage out of his mind. He became quite obsessed with it, until it was the only thing he could talk about. Dina tried to discourage Ishvar, suggesting he wait until their circumstances improved. He decided to write a letter to Ashraf Chacha, so that he could spread the word in the community.
