Summary

In Chapter Twenty-nine, Gwen, Thor and Krohn walk toward the council chamber, preparing to confront Gareth. Although they are supposed to meet Firth and Godfrey outside the room, they are not there. Instead, Brom and a contingent of soldiers march up to the door. Brom looks grave and concerned. He orders the guard to let them in the meeting. Gwen follows, wondering what is happening. Brom warns Gareth that McCloud has launched a full-scale invasion. Gareth is speechless at the news but finally manages to tell Brom that he intends to wait and see what happens. He indicates that he doesn’t want preparations for a coming party disturbed. Brom tells Gareth he is a disgrace. Gareth orders him arrested, but the other soldiers are afraid to touch him.
