Chapters 34 through 38 Summary
In Jaime, Jaime is surprised by the arrival of his cousin, Daven, the Warden of the West. He greets Jaime fondly, and the two discuss the war. Daven tells Jaime about the siege on Riverrun. They are camped outside Riverrun, and the Blackfish is camped inside. They sit around all day and do little to nothing, as no one is willing to risk combat. Inside the castle, they have enough food and water to last at least two years. Outside, the newly appointed lord of Riverrun refuses to allow the siege engines to reduce his new castle to rubble. Jaime has sworn an oath never to draw sword against a Tully or Stark again, so he plans to avoid battle if at all possible.
