Chapters 9 through 12 Summary

In Jaime, Jaime has sworn to stand a vigil of seven days and seven nights over his father's funeral bier. Jaime refuses to be relieved, though a few do offer. During his vigil, Jaime muses to himself over the events that have occurred. Jaime freed his brother from the dungeon, which resulted in the death of his father. Toward the end of his vigil, Cersei asks him again to be the Hand to Tommen. Jaime refuses. The next morning, Tommen is overcome by the smell of Tywin's body, that he vomits in the sept and runs out. Jaime asks another to relieve him and runs after Tommen. Cersei confronts Jaime in public, but regains her control before Mace Tyrell manages to get to them. Jaime counsels Cersei to go to dinner with Mace and his wife, then ask him to conquer...
