Anna
Anna is the main character and narrator of the novel. She starts the novel as a 49-year-old neuroscientist from Boston who is researching Huntington’s disease. At first, she hates interacting with other people, preferring to send her assistants to meet with the families they are working with instead of herself. After she meets Morrie, however, Anna realizes her mistake, and even becomes a medical practitioner after her time on Turtle Island. By the end of the novel, Anna has reconnected with her mother, learned how to create long lasting friendships, and continues to visit Turtle Island throughout the years.
