Part 2, Chapter 5 Summary
Augusta succeeds in her campaign to secure a title for Joseph. She is now the Countess Whitehaven. Ben Greenbourne lost the opportunity due to anti-Semitism in the press. Micky learns from Edward that the loan contracts with Greenbourne will be signed the next day, which will make his father happy.
They talk about Rachel and the fact that Micky cannot divorce her as long as he is a diplomat. She is now trying to open a hospital for unwed mothers. Edward too does not have much contact with Emily. She spends her time at his country house. Solly arrives and is very angry and accuses Edward and Augusta of leading the anti-Semitism campaign.
