Point of View

The novel is written in third-person from the limited perspectives of two characters – Nesta and Cassian. The perspective switches between these two, meaning the reader often has a view of what both characters are thinking. The perspective could not be limited to either of these characters because they are often apart when significant events take place. Cassian, for example, is often traveling around the realm, either training Illyrian warriors or on assignments for Rhysand. Nesta's experiences while working in the library are also important, but Cassian is not present for those.
