Summary

Part Three is titled Valkyrie. In Chapter 51, Emerie and Gwyn are surprised when Nesta returns after a week away with the ability to use an actual sword. Emerie says she hopes Nesta had sex during that time, which prompts Nesta to remember the two days they remained by the lake. Gwyn has created a test the Valkyries used to determine if they were ready for battle. A ribbon hangs from a beam. The test is to cut it in half with a sword. Cassian points out that they will continue to train regardless of this test, but invites them to try. Emerie tries but “The ribbon danced harmlessly away” (515). Cassian cuts it to prove it can be done. They continue to try each day, before and after training. Nesta continues to descend the stairs but never makes it all the way again. Gwyn...
