Ottsville, Vermont, 1920's

Ottsville is Betty, Lemuel and Shagpoke’s hometown. This is where Mrs. Pitkin’s house is located, where Shagpoke gives Lemuel the advice to seek his fortune and where Betty’s parents die and she serves as a maid to the Slemp family.

New York City, 1920's

This is where Lemuel goes to seek his fortune and finds many misfortunes. New York is cold, dirty and heartless and although he finds a few lucky opportunities, they always end as a scam.

California, Late 1920s or Early 1930's

California is a golden opportunity for Lemuel, Shagpoke, Betty and Jake Raven to try again at their pursuit of success. Unfortunately California also turns out to contain politically angry Native Americans and crazy outlaws who prevent them from achieving their goals.
