Summary
A Conjuring of Light picks up immediately where its predecessor, A Gathering of Shadows, left off. The author Schwab plots the events of the novel through several perspectives. The novel begins from the point of view of the magician and thief Lila. Lila, knowing that both her boyfriend Kell's and his adopted brother Rhy’s lives are in danger, crosses over to White London.
In Chapter 2, in White London, the shadow king Osaron double crosses the powerful White London magician Holland. The shadow king uses his magic to force his will upon Holland’s mind. Osaron imprisons Holland’s body, and despite Kell’s pleas to keep fighting, Holland’s mind also succumbs to Osaron. Holland is still alive, but unable to heal himself and lets Osaron take over.
