Summary
In July of 1588, Rollo stands on the desk of a Spanish flagship and sees England in the distance. He had fled England after his conspiracy against Elizabeth had failed. He had barely gotten out before Ned caught on to him. Rollo had gone straight to Madrid and continued to use his pseudonym. Spain’s ambassador to both London and France, Don Bernardino, had made certain that King Felipe was aware of Rollo’s involvement in preserving the Catholic faith in both countries, and Rollo is now second is status to the man who will become archbishop of Canterbury after the invasion. He feels like a crusader along with one hundred and eighty other priests on the ship. Rollo believes that they would be welcome in England, and Rollo will become the archbishop of Kingsbridge.
