Summary
Rollo stands on the deck of a freighter as they approach the coast of England. He knows he is at the moment of greatest danger as they head for Combe Barbour. He and eight young priests wait to sneak onto the shore. Rollo is concerned that their captain will betray them, as someone could have paid him more money. Furthermore, Rollo is relying heavily on Margery to house the priests as Rollo himself cannot set foot on English soil without risk. At dusk, the captain stops at a coast miles from their actual destination and they wait for a sign. Finally, a white sheet is waved from an upstairs window, matching the same color he wore for his robes. Despite his worry about a trap, Rollo gathers the priests and tells them to be silent until they reach the house. The...
