Summary
As Odette gives birth, Pierre wonders how to get rid of the baby. He believed she was suffering God’s punishment for having sex out of wedlock through a painful birth. He waits downstairs as the midwife is with Odette. Usually, he leaves for the Guise family palace right after breakfast to meet one of the Dukes. In the afternoon, he often met with his growing network of spies who continue to add names to his Protestant notebook. However, now he is waiting for the baby after five months of being married.
