Summary
In June of 1559, Sylvie asks Pierre if he really wants to marry her. Pierre covers his reaction quickly and tells her that he does. Sylvie, however, tells him they have been betrothed for more than a year. Her father’s bookshop is booming, and his illegal trade is getting better. There are many new Protestant congregations outside of Paris. Yet, Pierre’s reaction troubles her. He claims he is waiting for his mother’s answer, and Sylvie lets the conversation drop. She says they are going to have their wedding at their real church, and Pierre is considered about inviting the Marchioness who he did not get along with. Sylvie hoped they would recover, but Pierre was angry at the Marchioness. Despite this, Pierre has attended every service since his betrothal, and he will find a Protestant tailor to help him prepare...
