Summary

The day before the wedding of Queen Mary of Scots, Alison is called to meet the Queen of France. She received the summons from one of Mary’s ladies in waiting while Alison was helping Mary prepare. The lady-in-waiting, named Veronique, says that Queen Caterina likes Alison, but Alison believes it is because the latter is nice to the queen’s son. Ont he way, they meet Pierre who Alison sees as attractive. Pierre says he work sunder Mary’s uncle, Charles. Alison leaves him with Veronique and finds the queen. Alison finds Caterina with a six kittens and greets Alison warmly. Caterina is a large queen who loves wearing extravagant jewels and dresses. She beckons Alison to sit beside her and Alison picks up one of the kittens. She tells Caterina that Mary is calm, but embarrassed that she will have to...
