Chapter 41, Daenerys Summary

Daenerys Targaryen rides back to Xaro's palace after speaking with the rulers of the city, the Pureblood council, who refuse to help her. The people of Qarth only wanted to see the dragons she had, not assist her. They do bring gifts to her, which she uses to bribe three of the Pureblood council members. However, she tells Xaro the bribes did not work. Xaro will not help her gain the throne, either, as he has no ships. He asks her to marry him, but she knows Xaro just wants one of the dragons. She wants to go to the warlocks for aid, but Jorah tells her they could be dangerous.

They stop to watch a firemage perform. The crowds says the mage has more power than he used to, and Daenerys sees that her dragons are allowing magic to grow...
