Chapter 7, Jon and Chapter 8, Catelyn Summary

Jon Snow is in Castle Black, looking for his friend Samwell Tarly. Sam is looking for maps for an expedition into the north beyond the Wall. He finds books written about the history of the Night's Watch and shows them to Jon. Jon and Sam take the maps to the Lord Commander Mormont's chambers. Mormont is arguing with Thoren Smallwood, one of the company's rangers, because Thoren doesn't want Mormont to lead the expedition north. Mormont refuses to take Thoren's advice, so Thoren leaves. Sam is nervous in Mormont's presense and soon leaves. Mormont tells Jon about Maester Aemon and how Aemon could haven been a king at one time. Aemon was next in line for the throne, but refused the crown. When his younger brother, Aegon, became king, Aemon joined the Night's Watch so...
