Chapter 4, Tyrion Summary
Tyrion Lannister goes to meet the small council. He is initially denied entrance by Ser Mandon, who finally lets him in. Tyrion gives his sister, Cersei, a letter from Lord Tywin which named Tyrion as the Hand, the king's chief adviser, until Tywin comes to assume the role. Cersei is angry at this, since she wanted her father to return with his army. The other council members leave the two alone. Lord Petyr asks Tyrion where he will stay, and Tyrion says the Tower of the Hand. Petyr thinks the Tower is cursed, since the last two hands who stayed there were killed. Tyrion says many of the past hands were also killed or fell on hard circumstances.
When Cersei and Tyrion are alone, Cersei threatens him by saying she will claim her father's letter is a forgery. Tyrion tells her...
