Summary

In Chapter 7, Jack speaks more to Evie and Darla on the subject of religion. Jack believes that God is equivalent to nature, and that Jesus is equivalent to science because both are corporeal. Meanwhile the ‘Holy Ghost’ is equivalent to the forces that made and perpetuate nature. Jack says that the one thing Jesus did that science has not yet replicated is raising the dead. Over the following days, storms occur again, and the characters take shelter in the barn. The angels tell interesting stories of their lives, travels, and adventures. Evie spends time walking outside and focusing on the present moment and feelings of equanimity. One day, a group of armed men arrive in trucks.
