Chapters 35 - 40 Summary
Abe's father Nat comes to his office to relay that a member of his synagogue has likely witnessed the lynching of Arthur Wade. Abe almost forgets that he is supposed to be in court as a witness in a murder trial. While in court, Investigator Ridley Banks tells him that an interview with McKay revealed that his alibi is a lie and that they might have a witness. Then Ridley quietly tells him a story about Loretta where she may have been involved in everything from money laundering to the theft of a great deal of money in her days before becoming a senator. Ridly warns him subtly that Senator Wager is on their radar.
