Chapters 30 - 34 Summary
Loretta and Abe sit in the car and discuss the past. Loretta invites Abe in for a drink and he accepts, allowing his feelings for her to come to the surface. Jerohm's live-in girlfriend Carrie does not want him to out so soon after his release, but he is confident that it will be an easy night. Jerohm is right. The curfew has residents inside their homes and the National Guard has been moved out to more active locations. He helps himself to everything from low end electronics to liquor, and even some food, clothing, and toys for Carrie's son, Damian. Most of the stores already have been broken into, so he is in and out without seeing a soul. When Elaine wakes up the next morning feeling optimistic, she opens the paper and her world goes into a tailspin. Chris...
