Summary
In "PT Sir," Bimala Pal tells PT Sir about her political troubles. The public is upset the government has been unable to control the price of vegetables. He volunteers his help. She asks him to travel to another depressed village, Kokilhat. PT Sir speaks to the people about voting for Bimala Pal in the next election. The people disparage him. Their community is preoccupied with a man who killed a cow, a sacred animal in their religion. Unsure how to control the crowd, PT Sir watches as they murder the accused man and his family.
In "Interlude," the Kokilhat village people explain their anger with the beef-eating man. They burn his house down as punishment.
