Summary

Kim Clarke is afraid to ride the bus, fearing it will explode. She doesn’t like to hear the news. She wonders what people think when she, a black woman, goes into the house where she lives with her boyfriend. She describes how she met the American named Chuck but it seems she has to keeping forcing herself to find reasons why she finds him attractive.
