Summary

In Chapter 7, Bat does not like the weekends when he has to go and stay with his father because those weekends break the pattern. Bat was also upset because it meant he would have to be away from the skunk for three days. Bat tried to pretend he was sick. However, his mother, a veterinarian, knew he was not. She told him that if he wanted to help raise the skunk, he would have to do all of his regular stuff as well.

When Bat’s mother dropped him off at school, she asked if he was forgetting something. Bat thought of the obvious things, like his backpack, lunch, and earmuffs to cover his ears if things got too loud. His mom reminded him that he had not told her goodbye.
