Summary
“The Lost Daughter” describes Luther’s car accident that killed his daughter from his perspective, another “turn” in his life (49). He was preoccupied thinking about his chores and how his hours had been cut back, when a car pulls ahead of him and he refuses to let the car cut him off. He swerves to avoid collision but skids on ice and soon there is a three vehicle collision, while the guilty truck speeds away. Luther wakes up outside on the pavement and is put in an ambulance. He thinks about not only how his life was saved by Jesus but that his life was Jesus; that they were the same man. He later learns that his daughter Daphne died in the crash.
