Summary
In Chapter 9, because the house was such a mess, it was hard to tell if Vivienne had taken anything with her when she left. Gamache found a spot in the living room that he believed was blood. In Tracey’s studio, they noticed that the kiln had been used recently. Tracey argued it would have been too hard and too messy to cremate Vivienne in the small kiln. He said that if he had wanted to get rid of Vivienne he would just ask for a divorce. Gamache reminded Tracey that if he divorced he would run the risk of losing half his property. Tracey agreed that it was a good reason to kill Vivienne. When Cloutier later asked Gamache if he thought Tracey had killed Vivienne. Gamache did not respond.
