Summary
Chapter 1 begins with tweets degrading both Clara Morrow as an artist and the Sûreté du Québec for reinstating Armand Gamache.
Meanwhile at the Sûreté, officers tried to anticipate how Gamache, who had long been the leader of the Sûreté, would behave in his new position as head of homicide, a demotion. Gamache would be sharing the role with his son-in-law Jean-Guy Beauvoir until Beauvoir left for a new job in Paris.
Most of the officers knew that the tweets about Gamache that stated Gamache had abused his power and allowed drugs onto the street in a serious of “disastrous decisions” (3) were wrong.
