Chapters 3-9 Summary
In Chapter 3, Sarah tells Miles at their meeting that Jonah is desperately behind the other students in class, but she thinks he can catch up with some extra work at home. Miles explains that he is not home in the evenings three days a week, so Sarah volunteers to keep Jonah after school those days and work with him if Miles will work with him the other days. Miles agrees.
In Chapter 4, the unnamed narrator tells the reader how Miles began to worry about Missy that night when she did not come home immediately. Miles called Charlie and asked him to look for her since Miles had to stay with Jonah. A short time later, Charlie and his wife came to tell Miles the awful news.
