Chapter 36 & 37 Summary

The day of Joppolo's party arrives and a number of things happen simultaneously. That morning, Joppolo receives a shipment and it is the bell from the Corelli that Livingston had promised. Joppolo is immediately excited and asks the townsmen to help him raise the bell. The town's official bell-ringer comes to analyze the bell and determines that it will have a good sound. The town is elated. In his mind, Joppolo rehearses the speech he will make when the bell is raised in the town.

Borth is going through the local reports that have come in the mail and sees that Joppolo has been removed from the area at General Marvin's command. He knows that Purvis has something to do with it, but the news depresses him. He decides to not tell Joppolo until after the party so he can have one more...
